And in this instance, it is important to look at the way a vegetable appears. If the tomato is redder, it means that it has more lycopene in it. So men should pay attention to the color of the tomatoes they are buying at the grocery store!
Other fruits and vegetables help too. Broccoli is known for its anticancer properties, while other green vegetables are very good for the body too. And a diet that is high in fiber from fruits and vegetables will have less processed food, which is always helpful.
- Tea and Coffee
Drinking green tea or taking supplements can be very helpful in the fight against prostate cancer. Green tea contains catechins, which are known for antioxidant properties. Not only will they help you fight off prostate cancer, but they are generally good for you.
Coffee is another beverage that is helpful against prostate cancer. Studies going back many decades have shown that having a coffee habit means you are less likely to get prostate cancer.
But people should be careful, as high amounts of caffeine are not good for your body either. It is important to exercise moderation with the consumption of coffee and tea. And always remember that adding milk and sugar to those beverages is not healthy!

As with most health conditions, people will get a benefit if they quit smoking. Prostate cancer patients who smoke are said to have a bigger chance of developing the condition again. Someone who quits smoking will also have a lower chance of developing prostate cancer in the first place.
A lot of people make the mistake of thinking they have smoked for too long. Now they are in their 40s or 50s – what is the point of quitting? But it is a misconception. It is never, ever too late to quit smoking. The impact on overall health and the likelihood of prostate cancer is always positive when quitting smoking.
- Exercise and Body Weight
Being overweight is linked to an increased chance of developing prostate cancer. While exercise alone will not keep your body weight down, it can help a lot. People who are more active have a better chance of controlling their weight, especially as they get older.
It does not have to be strenuous exercise. Even walking, jogging, biking, or getting an occasional massage can help a lot. The key is to try and get 20 to 30 minutes of exercise into your routine. It will help your metabolism, ensure that you are fresher and it will keep your body weight down.
